When preparing your images for submission, both for your book cover and for the inside pages, it is important that you adhere as close as possible to the following guidelines in order to avoid unnecessary delays in the production of your book:
- We require all images to be submitted digitally in the TIFF format (.tif) and to have a resolution of 300 dpi in the size that you would like them to appear in your book. Ensure that your cover color images or your book images, if choosing a color publishing package, are saved in CMYK color if at all possible. We can accept images in RGB color; however, we’ll need to convert them to CMYK prior to printing, which may result in some color variations.
- We consider images to include photographs, pictures, drawings, charts, tables, diagrams, or any other non-textual element in your book.
- If you wish to submit hardcopies of your images instead, there is a scanning fee of $8 per image.
- Most of our publishing packages include a number of free digital image insertions in your book, ranging from 10 free images to 48, depending on the package. Any additional images can be placed in your book for a digital insertion fee of $5 per image.
- When submitting images for the inside pages of your book, don’t include the images within your manuscript. Instead, indicate their position by adding the following note: <<filename: my_birthplace.tif, caption: Picture of the house where I was born>>
- Please ensure that either you own the copyright to the images that you supply, that you have written permission from the copyright holders to use them in your book, or that you have purchased the images from the copyright holders or their agents (such as through a stock photo service).
