Copyright registration with the U.S. Copyright Office affords an added level of legal protection for your work (for example, to support your case should you have to take a third party to court for plagiarism). We will submit all necessary forms on your behalf in order to register the copyright of your book.
How do I get started?
- Your Publishing Consultant will ask if you'd like to include this service as part of your publishing package. Alternatively, you may ask your Author Account Manager about Copyright Registration at any time and they will be happy to assist you with this step.
- Before your book is published, you will fill out a Copyright Registration form, which we will submit along with two copies of your finished book to the U.S. Copyright Office.
- Upon successful registration, the U.S. Copyright Office will mail you a copy of your copyright certificate for your records.
(Note: this process may take several weeks, sometimes months, depending on the backlog of applications at the U.S. Copyright Office.)
